 ATI Driver Issues
« Thread Started on Mar 15, 2008, 7:15pm »

People having issues like Weird color refective water or "dark and light" screen with Bumpmapping on these are driver issues with the newer ati drivers. Try reverting back to the 7-11 drivers until ATI fixes this issue.

these should solve my problem. but check out MaxToTheMax's post about replacing some .tga file. I haven't tried it yet, though, so i don't know if it will work.

Max's post doesn't fix the problem, it just blurs the fragment shader image to the point where it doesn't look colorful.

Just ran across, looked like it might be useful:

"Slow glRenderMode ( GL_SELECT ) Performance in Recent Graphics Drivers"

Good find ;D

So the 7-11 drivers are the ones to use for alot of reasons until they hopefully fix their opengl problems.

Well, my replacement texture at least makes it not look horrid anymore!

It was a good try, its ATI thats making it look horrible tho. It should look SWEET! and it does with the 7-11 driver.

7-11 drivers are also faster for opengl than the newer ones (as the post stratocaster made states), as well as working correctly. Hopefully ATI will fix this issue soon.

Btw, when emailing, note that the bug with normal maps seems to be a problem with the driver using GL_CUBEMAP extensions, and the reflections bug appears to be an issue with arb fragment shaders.

Seeing as how I thought it was supposed to look that way and didn't know it was because of reflective water being turned on, it was an excellent try.

Okay, the installer won't work. It did the same thing when I was told to use the 7.6L drivers by the UFO: Alien Invasion forum.

What ATI card do you have? And which OS version?

Looks like XP, there are 2 drivers for Xp. The first does Pro and home, the other does Media center edition. If the Card is below a 9500 or maybe one of the REALLY new cards (like the last few months) 7-11 might not support it.

Let me know what you got and I will dig into it.

Also Catalyst control centers newer versions wont like the old driver, but usually thats a different message.

I have a Radeon HD 2400 Pro for the AGP 8x port, and I bought it a couple weeks before New Years.

I have XP Home Service Pack 2.

Yep, unfortunately 7-11 does not support the 2400 pro.

Got this off a site:

"Note that Catalyst drivers 7.10, 7.11 and 7.12 do not yet support the AGP versions of Radeon HD 2000 series cards with RIALTO bridge. Installing Catalyst drivers 7.10, 7.11 or 7.12 on those cards will yield the following error message: "setup did not find a driver compatible with your current hardware or operating system." The cards, which are yet to be supported, with their PCI vendor ID are listed below:[44]

GPU core Product PCI device ID
RV610 Radeon HD 2400 Pro 94C4
RV630 Radeon HD 2600 Pro 9587
RV630 Radeon HD 2600 XT 9586"

I guess you should use the newest driver and disable reflective water for now (performance boost big time also) and hopefully the next driver release these things are fixed.

One step ahead of you, disabled for a while now.

Noticed the performance boost right away. Almost fell off a few edges because it was faster that I'm used to.

Update: Those of you with hopes that the new 8.4 driver release today will have fixes to our issues will be very disappointed... ATI has NOT resolved ay of these issues. At least on my card anyway.
